Split RAR Password Recovery
A multi-volume RAR is one archive spread across several files. Missing or renamed parts can make a correct password look wrong, so collect and verify the volume set before testing candidates.
Recognize the two common naming styles
Newer sets commonly use names such as archive.part01.rar, archive.part02.rar, and so on. Older sets may start with archive.rar followed by archive.r00, archive.r01, and later volumes. The first visible filename is not enough to identify every part.
Keep the names and extensions exactly as received. If you must rename a part, make a documented copy and retain the original set for comparison.

Why a missing part changes everything
The archive may need a later volume to finish a file or validate a password. Solid compression can also make one missing or damaged earlier block affect multiple files. A listing from the first part is not proof that the set is complete.
Ask for the total number of volumes, compare sizes, and check the transfer source. A fresh copy of one bad part is often more valuable than a wider password search.
Automated recovery intake requires the complete volume set. A single .part or .rNN file is useful for diagnosis, but it should not be treated as a complete submission or a verified recovery path.
Verify without overwriting the set
Run integrity and extraction tests on a duplicate directory. Test a small expected file and at least one file that crosses a volume boundary when possible. Save the exact RAR generation and error message for any specialist.
Recovery records are not extra volumes
A recovery record may repair limited damage, but it cannot reconstruct a missing part or make a forgotten password visible.
Multipart RAR checklist
- 1
List the parts
Inventory every .part, .rar, and .rNN file without changing names.
- 2
Confirm completeness
Compare total count, sizes, and source information.
- 3
Test on a copy
Run integrity checks and a small extraction from a duplicate directory.
- 4
Only then search
Use password clues and validate the result across the complete set.
